I'm a writer, editor, and teacher who came to Japan "for just a couple of years" after stints in such third-world locales as Albania and Mississippi. I'm now in my tenth year in Japan and teach at Rikkyo Niiza Junior and Senior High School, a Protestant Episcopal school in Saitama Prefecture near Tokyo.

Photography has been a part of my life ever since my father registered a name, printed up some business cards, and founded his own photography business. Since then, I've faded in and out of photography like a long-term relationship that can never be fully committed to or fully ended.

My still-lifes were lit with either natural light or an ordinary 40-watt desk lamp supplemented with a white-paper reflector.

I am also the editor of The Crazy Japan Times
